Exclusive nine arrested as part of targeted drugs operation

Nine people were arrested in Athlone yesterday and today as part of targeted drugs operation.

The six men and three women, all aged between 25 and 36, were arrested at their homes in different parts of Athlone yesterday and today.

The arrests come following a joint operation between Athlone gardai and members of the National Drugs Unit, which has been ongoing since January.

All nine arrested were detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Athlone Gardai Station and have been released from custody.

All nine are expected to appear in Athlone District Court to face charges in relation to the investigation.
