Rose with local roots teaches daithi ice hockey
The International Rose of Tralee Festival swung into action last night as the spotlight shone on the first group of Roses at the Dome.
Cousins in Athlone, Ballinasloe and Ahascragh were among those cheering on Toronto Rose Katie Blundell who taught host Dáithí Ó Sé a thing or two about ice hockey.
The 25-year-old chiropodist lives in the Canadian city but has extensive Irish roots and was based in Galway for a spell during her teenage years.
Her grandfather hailed from Roscommon and she currently has cousins in many parts of the country including “Blundells in Ballinasloe and Ahascaragh” and “Mees in Galway and Athlone.”
