This could be you - major skydiving event set for the midlands
The annual All-Ireland Sky Dive Challenge in aid of suicide charities Pieta House and Ó Lá Go Lá is taking place in the midlands in September.
Abbeyshrule Aerodrome in Longford will be the venue for this year’s event on Saturday, September 13. This event, now in its third year, has raised over €37,500 for the two charities.
People are encouraged to sign up now for the sky dive to secure their spot on this all-day family event, which will include face-painters, jugglers and music. Pieta House
Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre which opened in Lucan, Co. Dublin in 2006. With nine centres throughout Ireland, Pieta House provides a professional, one-to-one therapeutic service for those who are experiencing suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm. A doctor’s referral or a psychiatric report is not required and the service is completely free of charge. To date, Pieta House has supported more than 12,000 people, with almost 4,000 of those seeking help in 2013. Pieta House’s vision is to have a centre within 100 kilometres of everyone in Ireland. Ó Lá Go Lá
A not-for-profit organisation that provides supervised support to help reduce suicide, depression and other stress related illnesses to service users who are in need of emotional support and encouragement. The service is a stepping stone for the individual until they are ready to reach out and have the necessary provisions for professional help and support in place.
