Funeral arrangements of Athlone Community College teacher
The funeral of a hugely popular teacher who worked at Athlone Community College will take place tomorrow (Friday).
Kieran Duffy, who taught History and English at the school for the last twenty years, died on Monday night aged just 42.
Staff along with current and former students are attempting to come to terms with the loss of a much-loved mentor and colleague.
Mr Duffy was described by the school's principal, Eileen Donohoe, as 'a great orator, a very talented piano player and a gifted teacher.'
His remains are to be reposed at his mother's home in Conabury, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan from 2pm to 10pm today (Thursday).
His burial is due to take place after 11am Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney, on Friday.
Family flowers, only, are requested with donations, if desired, to the Irish Cancer Society, care of any family member, or Brendan Hughes and Sons Funeral Directors in Castleblayney.
