Jay Boland reveals song choice for latest TV battle

Athlone’s Jay Boland has said he is slowing things down with his song choice for his latest live appearance on ‘The Voice of Ireland’ this Sunday.

The Creggan native will sing ‘Say Something’ by Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera on the RTE1 show, which kicks off at 6.30pm and he needs votes from people in Athlone and surrounding areas to stay in the race to win the overall title.

“I’m doing something different from last week with such a big song and the dancers. This week it’s just me and a piano singing,” he told the Westmeath Independent on a break from rehearsals this week.

“People will know the song well, it’s been played on the radio for the last few months,” the 21-year-old enthused, saying that he is really looking forward to performing the stripped back song this weekend, a musical style he feels suits him better than the Pharrell Williams ‘Happy’ number he performed last week.

The third live show this Sunday will see eight of the contestants singing to stay in the competition, with a guest performances from Matt Cardle and something special from Team Bressie!
