Call to turn Castle and art gallery green for Paddy's weekend
An Athlone councillor is suggesting that Athlone Castle and the Luan Gallery be turned green for the St Patrick's weekend in a bid to increase tourism.
Cllr Alan Shaw is set to propose a motion to this effect at Monday's town council meeting.
Shaw is asking the council to write to the Manager of Athlone Art & Tourism requesting that the Castle and Luan Gallery would be 'illuminated green during the St. Patrick's weekend to be part of the international drive to attract tourism and in this case to our town and tourism sites'.
