The Flatline Athlone Half Marathon will draw huge crowds to Athlone tomorrow, Saturday, and here is some bits of important information for participants.
All those taking part in the event were required to register in advance onlinen - and the pre-race registration (collection of race numbers) for both the full and half marathon will be open from 7pm to 9pm this evening (Friday).
Pre-race registration for the HALF MARATHON opens at 8am on Saturday morning and closes at 10.30am, while registration for the FULL MARATHON opens at 7am on Saturday morning and closes at 8am.
The race begins at 11am on Saturday morning starting from St Aloysius College in Athlone.
Please note that the event is sold-out and there will be no new entrants added to the present registered athletes on the day of the event.
There will be NO parking for spectators at the finish line area, in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel or on the grounds of St Aloysius College.
David Seery of the organising committee said: “We would urge all people who can register on Friday evening to please make the most of the opportunity and do so. We have over 1,200 athletes in this year’s race so to help alleviate large queues on Saturday morning we are opening registration on Friday.
'If you cannot register on Friday please plan to arrive early on Saturday morning and get parked and registered as quickly as you can,' added David.
Pre-race registration takes place in the gymnasium of St Aloysius College.
