Council issues warning over bogus septic tank inspectors
Westmeath County Council has issued a warning about bogus septic tank inspectors.
The council has published a notice on its website saying it has been made aware that some householders have been visited by people purporting to be from the Office of Public Works (OPW) who want to inspect their septic tanks and/or internal plumbing systems.
The council has warned people that there are no such crews from the council, the OPW or any such organisations currently undertaking such inspections.
'Septic tank inspections, where they occur over the next number of months, will be preceded by correspondence and inspectors will also carry full identification,' the council advised.
