Local school improvement projects approved

Roscommon County Council has paved the way this week for an extension to Cloonakilla National School in Bealnamulla. Planning approval has been granted for the construction of a new pre-fabricated building consisting of a classroom, resource room, two toilets and a lobby adjacent to the existing school. The project got the green light from the local authority in recent days subject to compliance with eleven separate planning conditions. Meanwhile, there was also good news for Streamstown National School and Our Lady's Bower Secondary school in the latest planning lists. The latter school's plans for a new vehicle entrance and new internal road layout to create a one-way entry/exit system at the Retreat road school has also got the seal of approval from council planners. Over in Streamstown, permission has been garnered for a new 80 square metres single-storey extension with en-suite toilets. The application also covers the relocation of an existing prefab and retention of existing toilets and oil tanks.
