Gardai seek witnesses after Coosan church burglary

Gardai in Athlone are looking for witnesses after Coosan church and the nearby parochial house were broken into over the Christmas period. The burglaries happened between 7pm on Thursday, December 27, and 9am the following day, Friday, December 28 last. A small amount of cash was taken from Coosan parochial house and attempts were made to take a safe from the church but the culprit left empty handed. Some minor damage was caused to both premises where entry was gained. Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of Coosan church on last Thursday evening or in the early hours of Friday last is urged to contact Athlone Gardai in confidence at 090 6492609. Meanwhile, Gardai are looking for the public's help in relation to a break in at Athlone Regional Sports Centre in early hours of St Stephen's Day. Entry was gained into the building and the alarm activated but nothing was taken.
