Almost 2,000 students receive Junior Cert results

Almost 2,000 students in Westmeath and Roscommon receive their Junior Certificate results today (Wednesday). Some 1,363 students in Westmeath and 574 students in Roscommon will receive the results of the State exams at their schools this afternoon. Of the 1,363 students in Westmeath awaiting their results, 685 are female and 678 are male, while in Roscommon 293 females and 281 males are awaiting results. Nationwide 58,798 students are getting their results today, with 28,891 being female and 29,907 are male. The results will be available in schools today and will also be available online at www.examinations.ie from 4pm today. The overall numbers sitting the examination has increased by 3.4% on last year and the proportion of candidates who are re-entrants to education has fallen marginally from 1.9 % of the cohort in 2011 to 1.7% in 2012. Applications for review of Junior Certificate examination results, which must be made through the student's school, should be made so as to arrive in the State Examinations Commission no later than 5pm on Friday, September 28. The fee for this service is €32 per subject, which will be refunded in the event that a result is upgraded. Applications are accepted only from a school authority which must confirm that the result obtained is at variance with the result expected. It is planned to post the results of the appeals in the week ending November 9.
