Connaughton"s customers present €2,300 to Mayo/Roscommon Hospice
Patrons of Connaughton"s Pub, Clonark who through their participation in the national lottery draw each week predicting the bonus number have recently presented a cheque for €2,300 to the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice Foundation, towards their Palliative Care Services. Support such as this has helped the foundation to put a full seven-day homecare nursing service in place. Each year the number of patients referred to the service grows. In 2008 the teams cared for 539 patients and families and made 11,161 home visits. Hospice and palliative care services in Mayo and Roscommon are heavily dependent on voluntary funding and their foundation has to raise in the region of €1 million annually through donations and fundraising efforts.
