Gardai investigating death of Rosemount woman

Gardai in Cahir are this week investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Rosemount native whose body was found in a laneway near the village of Burncourt, Tipperary, on Monday evening. The woman has been named locally as Geraldine Quirke (52), who was orginally from Rosemount, and lived less than a mile from Burncourt village. The body of the mother of two was found in a laneway near Ballyporeen shortly before 5pm on Monday. Gardai sealed off the area and crime scene examiners from the Garda Technical Bureau examined the scene yesterday (Tuesday) morning. The State Pathologist was notified and a post mortem was carried out on the remains yesterday. The results of the post mortem examination were awaited by Gardai yesterday evening, who had not yet confirmed whether or not they were treating the death as suspicious.
