Spooky Halloween with ghouls and vampires about the town

Whoooooooooo! T"was a very spooky Halloween night in the town of Athlone. I met all sorts of vampires, ghoulish creatures and a pair of Teletubbies in the course of my travels. The Coosan Tavern was my first stop. It appears that there is a new Pontiff already. His name is Wesley Wykes and he enjoys having the craic in the Midlands. Makes a change, I suppose! Mick Meade, Marie McCormack and Emily Clarke had also made quite an effort to get into the spirit of things. If you"ll excuse the pun. Outside The Quays I met Basil Gilfillan who made a very convincing mime, until he started talking. Caroline Sharp and Philly Powell were Lala and Po, the aforementioned Teletubbies. They were very scary with their dead eyes! Padraig Faherty was a very convincing Huggy Bear and James Smullen was a very impressive Dracula. Andrea Sabatini was joining in the fun and was dressed as a monk behind the bar. Ann Mellett was celebrating her birthday in The Quays with her friends and they were having a great night. I crossed the bridge to The Palace where I met Niamh Cullen, who was in her pyjamas. Sure it saves time and effort at bedtime! Padraig Woods from the Jackson Five was trying to recruit the two Drumming Gorillas from the Cadbury"s ad ( James and Stephen Conway) seeing as Michael Jackson isn"t going to rejoin for next year"s tour. Ronaldo Lima, Emerson Silva and Cleison Martins from Brazil went old school and wore actual scary costumes including spiders, wigs and a skeleton suit. Caroline Davin, Anita Puisele and Ola Matusiak were in The Palace after a hard week"s work in Super Valu. The Prince was my next stop. Colin Larkin and Emily Seery were dressed as Santa and a Christmas tree; I think they may have been a little confused about the time of year. Liz Shine and Brianna Kelly were Siamese twins (or is it conjoined twins?) for the evening. Kev Studholme had a great shark costume with realistic legs protruding from his gaping mouth. Copper"s was my last stop. Josephine Masterson, Siobhan Heavin and Stephanie Meehan were a bewitching trio. It was a great night and everyone was in top form.
