Tickets selling out fast for Irish Entertainment Awards
Some of the Irish entertainment industry"s finest performers will be make their way to Athlone"s Radisson SAS Hotel on Monday, October 20, next for the third annual Irish Entertainment Awards. A host of awards will be up for grabs on the night on what promises to be a very special occasion and the event has now become a major date in the local event calendar. Already tickets for the event are selling out fast and a spokesperson for Music World, Athlone, commented that this year"s awards have already garnered plenty of attention. 'They"ve been selling very well in the last few weeks and they"re disappearing fast,' they added. The idea of the awards is to recognise the services given by entertainers who don"t usually get the credit they deserve for their hard work in entertaining thousands of people across the country. Athlone native and event organiser Desi Egan - a highly-respected producer and band manager - is one of the key figures behind the event. Desi says that this year"s show promises to be the best yet with excitement and awards aplenty and tickets are on sale now. Topping the bill this year will be the legendary Brendan Bowyer, who is currently celebrating 50 years in the business. Athlone Mayor Egbert Moran will also be on hand to present Brendan with his International Hall of Fame award on the night. As well as Brendan Bowyer, performers taking part in this year"s awards include Mike Denver, Tony Kenny, Mike English, The Showband Show, Tequila Sunrise, Eamon McCann, John McNicholas, country star, Buck Taylor and Sean Slattery while the ever-popular "Elvis" will also be on hand again! A special award this year will also be presented to the family of Louis Walsh who will be attending the show on behalf of Louis who is currently filming X-Factor. Indeed, Louis" mother Maureen who will be attending the show has even been credited with helping discover Westlife and Mike English. Desi was delighted with the huge success of last year"s event and is looking forward to another great night at the Radisson SAS this year. 'Last year was sold out and it will sell out again this year. It was a fantastic night out and we"re really looking forward to this year"s event. We have some fantastic performers taking part,' he said. Tickets are on sale from Music World, Golden Island, Heartbeat City, Tullamore and Eight til Late, Roscommon. This year"s event will also be compered by the best in the business including Joe Cooney of Midlands Radio 3, Jim Bartley of Fair City and Ronan Collins of RTÉ, while superstar Roger Whittaker will also be on hand to present an award to one of the stars.
