Irish Entertainment Awards to bring the stars to Athlone

Louis Walsh will be among the star attractions when some of the Irish entertainment industry"s finest performers make their way to Athlone"s Radisson SAS Hotel this October 20 for the third annual Irish Entertainment Awards. A host of excellent awards will be up for grabs on the night in what promises to be a very special occasion and Walsh himself is to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The idea of the highly popular event is to recognise the services given by entertainers who don"t usually get the credit they deserve for their hard work in entertaining thousands of people across the country. Athlone native and event organiser Des Egan - a highly-respected producer and band manager - is one of the key figures behind the event which, each year, has been selling out in double time. Performers taking part in this year"s awards include Michael English while Roger Whittacker (winner of last year"s Lifetime Achievement Award) will return to present an award on the night. Among the other star names will be guest compere Ronan Collins who will return to Athlone to host the event. Mr Egan was delighted with the huge success of last year"s event and is looking forward to another great night at the Radisson SAS this year. 'We have some fantastic performers taking part and everything is coming together extremely well. We"ll also have plenty of surprises between now and the event to announce so we"re really looking forward to that too,' he added.
