AIT student takes part in European Championships

AIT scholarship student John Travers will compete in the European Athletics Championships this week.

It is the second time the Donore Harriers AC man will have lined up at a major championships since he joined AIT as a Business Studies in Sport & Recreation Management student.

He competed last year at the European Indoor Championships having run his qualifying time for that championships at the AIT International Arena.

John will take to the start line on Thursday in his heat of the 1500m with fellow Irish qualifiers Paul Robinson and Ciaran O’Lionaird also taking part in the heats.

The full start lists are not yet available but the 1500m heats will be held on Thursday morning from 10.55am Irish time. Following on from a 3:55:44 mile in the Morton Mile on August 11 (John’s first under the 4 minute barrier) he will be in good and confident form.
